The major focus in our laboratory is to decipher the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the progression of chronic liver diseases. This is a large group of diseases that causes significant morbidity and mortality. The pathogenesis of many chronic liver diseases is still elusive and effective treatments are still lacking.
Dr. Schnabl is an Associate Professor in Gastroenterology at UCSD School of Medicine. His main interest as a physician scientist is the pathogenesis of chronic liver disease .
