History
The UCSD Gastroenterology Division was founded in the mid-1970's by Henry Wheeler, M.D. who served as its first Division Chief.
The Division has trained several local gastroenterologists in San Diego as well as developed several academicians in San Diego as well as several University-based medical schools, including some in leadership and admistrative positions.
